Rules and Procedures for
Awards - Entry Fees - Admission Prices
1. $100.00 is the maximum amount, exclusive of engraving, which may be paid for any individual CIF award to an athlete. Such award cannot be cash or a gift certificate or merchandise alone. It any be merchandise, badge, medal, plaque, ribbon, picture, certificate or trophy if it is suitable engraved. For Central Section champions only, the cost may be increased to $250.00. Awards for participation in other than CIF competition are governed by rules of the amateur governing body for each specific sport. (See CIF Rule 800, 801, 802, 803, 804).
2. Athletes who accept awards of value greater than $100.00, shall be ineligible for further athletic competition for a period of one year following the date of violation.
3. Schools which violate this rule shall be suspended from CIF in that sport for the following season and placed on probation for one full year following the date of violation.
4. CIF CENTRAL SECTION DOES NOT PROVIDE AWARDS OF ANY TYPE AT THE LEAGUE OR INVITATIONAL EVENT LEVEL.
5. Medals for Divisional, Area and Section Championships must be the medals called for in the contract. (See number 4 above).
6. School championship trophies for all league, section and invitational events cannot exceed the price contracted for the cost of section runner-up trophies.
7. Awards given at invitational meets and tournaments may be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners except wrestling may be given as follows:
a. Tournaments with 16 or less teams, a maximum of four medals per weight be allowed.
b. Tournaments with more than 16 teams, a maximum of five medals per weight be allowed.
8. No Central Section school is allowed to participate in any Central Section Invitational event where the entry fee and awards do not conform to CIF Central Section rules. Participation in out-of-section invitational events is exempted from this rule.
9. When only one league is represented, the award shall be a league award provided by the league and not by CIF Central Section.
10. When only two schools participate in a playoff, the award shall be a division championship trophy provided by CIF Central Section.
11. When three or more leagues of four or more schools participate in playoff, the awards shall be Central Section championship and runner-up trophies provided by CIF Central Section. However, if the playoff involving three or more leagues or four or more schools, ends at the divisional level (no section championship), trophies shall be awarded as if it were a section championship.
12. Schools not paying the required entry fee by the established deadline, shall be charged a penalty equal to the amount of the entry fee (double).
13. Entry fees are to be charged according to the scale listed for each sport.
14. Deficits in operating costs to the host school for playoffs are to be prorated among competing schools based upon the number of events for each school.
15. Admission price to all division playoffs, area qualifying meets, and section final championship contests shall be as follows (Ex. Bd. minutes 1/10/90).

The age for Senior Citizens for playoffs shall be 65 years old or older
16. That champion and runner-up plaques (only) be awarded in all team sports that qualify for a section championship.
17. Medals for leagues and invitational events shall be one-sided, one piece medals not to exceed two inches in diameter. Events that have established medals (Adopted prior to May 14, 1975 may be allowed to continue using their existing medal, but must conform to the above limitation if a change in design is made. Schools sponsoring such events are to submit one of their existing medals to the Section Commissioner for his files in order to be excluded from the limitation.
18. A division or area championship plaques will be provided by CIF Central Section for those sports in which a division or area team champion is declared. No runner-up trophy will be awarded.
